EASTER EGG HUNTING IN DOWNTOWN HOBBS! - 03/14/08-03/21/08
Check out the downtown businesses and hunt for easter eggs. Each egg found will turn into a prize. Drawing for the prizes will be on Friday, March 21st at 4:30 pm at MainStreet Hobbs, Inc. at 105 W. Broadway. For more information call: 575-391-7651. It turned out to be very successful and MainStreet would like to thank all merachants who donated prizes and participated. Thanks again.

LEA COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (LCCA) - AFTER SCHOOL STUDENT ART AND CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES STUDENT ART PROJECTS WILL BE ON EXHIBIT! - 04/19/08 - 05/14/08
LCCA Wednesday after school student art and Child and Family Services student art projects will be on exhibit at the Center for the Arts, 122 W Broadway, Hobbs, through May 14. The exhibit includes drawing, tissue paper art, mosaic, and painting projects. Hours for viewing are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 5.

STARS ON BROADWAY & OPENING OF TIDWELL PARK - 04/19/2008
Hobbs has a new park in the downtown area! The dedication of JB & Maggie Tidwell Art Park is April 19th at 11:00 am. A reception follows at Lea County Commission for the Arts ot 122 W. Broadway. We also will have five more stars on Broadway. We honor, Frank Capuranis, J.B. Tidwell, Mark Lund, Brenda Brooks and Gussie Black. If you want to see where their stars are come to downtown Hobbs.

LEA COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (LCCA) - CHILDREN'S ART CLASSES WILL CONTINUE! - 04/23/08 - 05/14/08
Wednesday afternoon children's art classes will continue at the Center for the Arts, 122 W. Broadway, Hobbs, from 2 pm until 4 pm through May 14th. Cost of the class is $3 per session. Preregistration not necessary.

LEA COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (LCCA) - JEWLERY CLASS OFFERED ON APRIL 24TH! - 04/24/2008
On April 24, from 10 am until 2 pm. the Center for the Arts, at 122 W. Broadway in Hobbs, offers a jewlery class taught by Jean Peter. A bracelete and a necklace will be constructed. All supplies will be furnished. Cost of the class is $25 and preregistration is necessary. Please call 397-ARTS to register for the class.

CINCO DE MAYO FIESTAS! - 05/03/08 - 05/04/08
This is the second time CINCO DE MAYO celebration will be held in the downtown area. Expect lots of entertainment on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a parade on Saturday starting at 10:00 am. The route has not been finalized but will probably start at the old Thriftway parking lot and will end on Broadway. An update on the route will follow soon. LEA COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (LCCA) - SCRAPBOOKING CLASSES - EVERY SECOND SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH! - 05/10/08
Scrapbooking classes will continue at the Center for the Arts, 122 W. Broadway, Hobbs, the second Saturday of each month from 10 am until 5 pm. Cost of the class is $5 per session. Call the 397-ARTS to register.

MAINSTREET HOBBS INC. HONORS HOBBS HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND HOSTS ITS FIRST "SENIOR DAY"! - 05/16/2008
MainStreet Hobbs, Inc. is hosting the First Senior Bash! The event will be held May 16th on Broadway beginning at 3:00 pm with a parade and ending at 11:00 pm. We wil have karaoke, food, games, dance constest, and lots of other fun things! There will be also drawings and prizes for the Seniors! For this reason the 100 block will be closed. Expect lot's of activities and entertainment. For more information, please call the MainStreet office. We would like to thank every business, private person, and organization who supported this event. A special thank you also to all the seniors and people who came to downtown and enjoyed staying with us.

LEA COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (LCCA) - QUILT EXHIBITION - THE PASSION OF PURPLE - ! - 05/21/08 - 06/07/08
The Center for the Arts, 122 W. Broadway, Hobbs displays beautiful quilts. The theme of this year is "The Passion of Purple". Do not miss this exhibition. It also includes exhibit and sale of Lea County Correction The Lea Correctional Facility quilts will be on sale for $50 each. A raffle of the patriotic community quilt will be held June 7th the last day of the exhibition. Tickets are $1 each. All proceeds go to Lea County Commission for the arts for the operations of the Center for the Arts.

"2008 FESTIVAL OF QUILTS" - 'WINDMILLS OF OUR LIVES" - 05/22/08
The Western Heritage Museum - Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame hosts its annual "Festival of Quilts". Quilts are exhibit from May 22nd - June 7th, 2008. Enjoy this incredible artwork. The June scrapbooking class will meet June 7, 10 to 5. Location: Center fro the Arts, 122 W. Broadway, Hobbs. Class costs: $5 per session For more information and registration call 397-ARTS.

LEA COUNTY CENTER FOR THE ARTS (LCCA) - SUMMER ARTS CAMPS FOR STUDENTS 7th THROUGH 12th GRADE AT THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS. - 06/09/08-06/20/08
1) A beading and jewlery camp is scheduled the week of June 9-13 from 9am to 12 noon where students will learn embellishment idieas and jewelry making. 2) A photography camp is scheduled June 9-13 from 1pm to 4pm where students will learn fundamentals of digital cameras and photo enhancement. 3) Painting is scheduled the week of June 16-20 from 9am to 12 noon and students will be introduced to painting and drawing. 4) A 3-dimensional art camp June 16-20 from 1pm to 4pm will be art constructions from a variety of materials. Each visual arts camp is $50. Registration deadline is June 1st Registration after June 1st will be an additional $25 per class. Hours are 11-5 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 10-5 on Saturday.

"Downtown Is Where It All Happens". Come and join us for the 11th Hobbs August Nites! This year's entertainers are: HERMAN'S HERMITS starring Peter Noone. SANTANA original singer Greg Rolie. Expect lot's of fun for adults and kids, and don't forget the car show! For the first time, we will also have arts & crafts vendors. So, don't miss this event!

"THE COWBOY PROMENADE CHRISTMAS NITE LIGHT PARADE"! - 12/05/08
We still have several months to go, before the Christmas season will hit us again, but it will come and so comes "The Cowboy Promenade Christmas Nite Light Parade 2008". Be creative for the floats in 2008!
